Purchased the case to use with a 17 inch screen lenevo laptop that I use for cad/cam. The interior plug and peel is pre scored for creating a place for the item.I have used several of the pelican cases in the past, to transport camera equipment, jewelry, and firearms and they generally are the best case on the market. I do have three other cases from different manufactures (two of these are from DOD manufacturers for use in Iraq and Afghanistan) and the pelican does seem to be the best made - although the fit and finish on my most recent case is not as good as my first pelican case I purchased over a dozen years ago.It is still very acceptable.This particular model was purchased due to the dimensions of the laptop. Once configured for the laptop, the only space left over was used for flash drives and one half of the power brick/cord combination.I would still buy it again. It is more than adequate for a protecting what is in essence a $10,000 laptop.The only drawback is that the handle, while folded, still will not permit it to be stowed in the overhead compartment on a Bombardier CRJ700 plane. It will however fit underneath the seat. It may fit in the overhead compartments on other planes.Overall a more than adequate pelican case.Love this case! Fits my 15inch Asus laptop and all my accessories perfectly!! Everything except the headphones of course. Highly recommend for a expensive laptop!Perfect. Quality. Rugged. Lockable. Portable. Customizable. If you need a case this size, none better.The foam insert is great! Keeps your items from moving around or being damaged. I bought it for my 17" laptop and it works perfectly. I added a layer of non slip mat on top of my laptop then place my charger, mouse and accessories on top of that. Everything fits nicely and transports well with no movement or scratches. Perfect!!!I purchased this to use as my Laptop bag/case for my 17" Lenovo laptop. As my Laptop is considered very, very big, I was a little skeptical at first, worrying that a lot of money would be wasted because there wouldn't be a very decent chance of my laptop fitting inside this case.My Laptop screen is 17" itself, and with my laptop being a Lenovo, it is a little wider than the standard 17" laptop because of the cosmetic design. It's a little odd shaped along the edges, making it more wide than a standard laptop... Lenovo likes their products to literally, and figuratively, "Stick out", I guess you could say.But after receiving it and plucking out the foam, my fears and concerns were quickly subsided.... My Laptop was a perfect fit inside this case! There was still plenty of room around the inside foam wall padding to provide adequate protection for my laptop. I have no doubts that if I were to drop this case that my laptop would truly be completely secure. The ruggedness of this case is EVERYTHING you would expect from pelican, as they have clearly used the same specs and quality in the designing of this case as they do for all of their gun cases as well.I would absolutely buy this case again, and when the day comes that I purchase another, or different laptop, then I actually will buy this case again!i have 2 problems with it.1 - there was a substantial chemical smell from the foam and the shoulder strap ( yes it included shoulder strap ).2 - the watertight sealing rubber ( actually foam ) ring wasn't properly installed and there was one spot where it wasn't watertight. i moved the seal back in place more or less, and i have heard that it can be replaced altogether so it's not that bad ... but if somebody put $10,000 worth of gear in the case and drifted down the river with it only to find out his gear was destroyed ( or better yet, only to drown ) i think that would be a fail.four stars. good size, strong ... but quality is lacking.i also wish pick & pluck foam came in 2 layers of pick & pluck instead of one or something like that. i spent an entire hour carving out space for my laptop because the pick & pluck layer is 2 inches thick. if you have an alienware maybe you can get away with plucking it all the way through because your laptop is that thick, but i had to leave half an inch on the bottom which was a lot of work.the strap isn't bad, but could use some padding.the handle isn't as thick as on my pelican / lowepro camera case. i wish the handle was thicker - it really doesn't feel pelican - more like a regular briefcase handle.the combination lock is annoying - wish it wasn't there.i like the 4 latch system instead of 2 - smoother action with better seal.all in all a good case for a 17" laptop if you don't want to place the AC adapter inside. if you want the AC adapter and power cord inside then i would use it for a 13" notebook. you can certainly FIT a bigger notebook with AC adapter in there but if you have to get rid of almost all the foam in the process you defeat the purpose of having a super cushioned case.a little disappointed ... mostly because i have another pelican case that is better quality than this one ... but compared to most cases out there this is still a good one.Sturdy Case. Purchased as a laptop carrying case for my over-large Alienware 17 R4 laptop, to carry to/from my college courses. This case fits it's perfectly with some slight modification to the foam, past the perforations. Trying to find a case for this laptop has been a feat of futility due to the size, but this case is perfect. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to transport their gaming laptop safely. Note: I'm a big guy, so the weight of the case doesn't bother me but it might be too much for some people... though you typically trade safety for lighter weight. As expensive as the laptop is, I'll deal with the weight and I know I can trust Pelican to keep is secure.So happy with this case. Super stiff and hard. Great job at protecting the contents. The foam is great too. Getting the fitment accurate is simple and only takes a few minutes. It already took a tumble down some cement stairs. Can't find a mark and the contents did not notice a thing.Thank you Pelican!It's a nice bit of money to pay for a case - but when you have it in your hands any doubts will fade away.My main concern upon buying it was the latches/hinges might be too flimsy for my liking, but everything about this case is very robust. I'm quite pleased.I will put it through its paces but I'm confident that this will last forever and will protect its contents from just about anything.Si quieres protección al 100 % de tu notebook, esta maleta Pelican es lo mejor que hay en el mercado, es muy espaciosa y muy resistente. Tiene un acabado muy moderno aunque es un poquito grande, pero esta excelente!Sin duda algo que vale la pena tener, los equipos adentro se quedan bastante seguros. Lo utilice para una lap top con pantalla 15.6 y me quedo espacio suficiente y exacto para mouse, cargador y memorias usb o hasta un disco duroMy case shipped with no side latches for the shoulder strap and instead had two holes in the case…so much for water tight!
